Feds is my first formal teacher on AT. I chose Feds because of her professional and passionate attitude towards teaching English. In my first formal class, she gave me many opportunities to practice speaking and encourage me with patience. I really like having Feds to be my teacher on my English learning road.

We read a story about Flying Nightingales yesterday. After reading it, I think it was so brave of them to devote themselves to a such harsh situation. Even though they had to face lots of stress and danger, or even death, they still did their best in all of the missions. Their selflessness and dedication should be rewarded by all people.

Today we discussed work etiquette over a speech and learned about how to write an polite email to the manager. Later on we worked on the exercise of new vocabularies and their definitions. There were many unfamiliar vocabularies on today's learning material. I learned a lot! Thank you Alex!

Today we learned about accents, first we talked about the difficulties about have an accent of our country’s, then we watched a video about 2 English native speakers not understanding each other and answered some questions, and then we spelt some words, understood their meaning and used them in replacing words inside of phrases, and we did some pronunciation practices like tongue twisters. I really want to know what will be next class’s topic!

I just had a trial lesson with the wonderful teacher Ted. He is so enthusiastic and professional! He knows lots of phrases and idioms, and his passion for language was truly inspiring. His lesson plans are perfect for students who want to speak more like a native speaker. I would highly recommend him to anyone! 雖然我目前只上了體驗課程,但是在這25分鐘內,Ted老師讓我看到了他對於外語教學的熱情與專業,他對於語言的理解相當深刻,而且還教了我不少道地的慣用語。他幫助我快速找到我在英語的弱點,並提出適當的學習方案。如果你想學會在地人的對話技巧,我會推薦Ted老師。

I do need to learn more synonyms or I would sound like a robot in interview. This is the first time I narrate the stories I prepared for behavior interview. I am confident that I can say it in 2 minutes but apprantly I can't. I will put more effort on narrating a concise and appealing story in order to pass the 7 interviews for google :).

Teacher Mary is amazing. She is a caring and patient teacher. In the beginning, I gave her the teaching materials that I would like her to teach my boy. Within a short period of time, Teacher Mary could manage to teach the materials in her way, very interactive and can enhance my son's interest in learning English. Her responsiveness, her quick-wittedness, these all amaze me!! For parents who would like to find a bright teacher, no hesitation, I would highly recommend this teacher to you!!

Q3. How do I choose my tutor?

If you have a clear idea of your criteria for choosing a tutor - such as any specific learning objectives, target cost for tutoring, etc. - you can use the search function to quickly find a tutor who suits your needs, and select “book trial” to set up your first online lesson.

If you don't have time to find a tutor or aren't sure where to start, we can help with recommendations. Try using our tutor recommendation tool here, which will provide you with tutor matches according to your selected needs.
Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a tutor who is a native speaker?

One of the best ways to learn is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only .

However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.

If you have a good range of vocabulary but lack the opportunity to practice, then we recommend you choose a native tutor.
Q5. Learn in the US - how do I find a local or online tutor?

You're in the right place. We have local tutors serving New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and most other areas nationwide, as well as numerous tutors based internationally.
Q6. How much will my online class cost?

All tutoring fees are set by the tutors themselves, and not by AT. Most of our tutors charge USD$10-30 per hour.

You can also get matched with suitable tutors who fit a specific budget. If the tutor’s fees work for you, you can buy a lesson package from them or start with a “trial lesson.”
Q7. How do I pay for my lessons?

You can pay with PayPal or credit card (American Express, Mastercard, or Visa). For certain international markets (e.g. Taiwan), we also accept local methods of payment, such as payment via ATM or convenience store.
Q8. How many lessons should I purchase?

If you have a short term goal, we recommend you purchase enough lessons that you can take classes consistently within your timeframe. If you need significant improvement to reach your goal, we recommend you an adequate number of lessons, and get into the habit of regular weekly learning! The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
Q9. What if I have more questions?

Our FAQs page should have answers to most of your questions. If you can't find the answer to your question on the FAQs page, you can contact us by clicking the red question mark (?) icon at the bottom right of your screen.
