I have 4+ years of teaching experience in local elementary, middle, and high schools. I teach both ESL students and native-speaking students in general education classes. I come from a rural region of the United States and grew up on a farm. My normal accent is a neutral American accent, but if you want to practice speaking to someone with a more rural accent I can offer that. I teach students in any age range and can offer extra help with pronunciation, phonics, and phonemic awareness, as these are skills that many native-speaking children also struggle with.
All courses will be tailored to the student's needs. I am very flexible in what and how I can teach; if you are interested in learning a specific thing please reach out. That being said here are a few of the areas I specialize in:
*Formal English and Vocabulary
*Modern Slang and Conversational English
*Phonics
*Phonemic Awareness
*Pronunciation
I want to make my lessons not just helpful and educational, but also fun and engaging. I will get to know each and every student and tailor lessons to their interests and goals. I am also a big believer in student interaction. The best way you learn is by doing not watching and listening. I ask that my students converse and read aloud passages that may be difficult for them, this may be uncomfortable but it is part of the learning process. I hope to see you in my class.
