Let's embark on this fun English-learning adventure together! 💚 ABC Writing Letters and Sound Practice with Play-Doh In this class, we will practice writing the letters (capital only), learning how to form them correctly, and using kindergarten-lined paper (which I will attach for printing). We will go over the sound each letter makes and think of some examples of words that start with those sounds. Finally, for kinesthetic learners, we will make the letters with play-doh and continue to discuss the letter and its sound. This will provide more practice and help the brain connect each letter with a picture and sound. 💚 CVC and CVCC Word Practice This class will introduce a different group of CVC words each session. When children understand how to blend two sounds together (like "a" and "t" to say "at"), they can combine them to create new words (e.g., cat, pat, sat). We will use picture cards and letters to form different words! We will also use play-doh to create the different beginning sounds, helping kinesthetic learners while making learning more fun! 💚 Digraphs and Blended Sounds In this class, we will delve into more challenging words that can't always be sounded out letter by letter. Sounds like "sh," "kn," "ch," "ck," "wh," "th," and others are known as digraphs. These sounds can be tricky because they don’t follow the usual process of sounding out each individual letter that learners have become accustomed to. Each class will focus on practicing a specific digraph sound, with the goal of deepening understanding and applying it to various words. 💚 Diphthongs This class will introduce a different group of blended vowel sounds each session. When children learn to read, they learn to sound out words. Unfortunately, in the English language, we have many tricky sounds when vowels appear in a specific order. We will use picture cards and letters to make words with a different blended sound each week!
