Hello, I'm Iuliia (although I prefer Julia), I'm 20 years old and I'm from Russia. However, for most of my life, I've been identifying with everything that is not Russian. I love English: listening to it, speaking it and everything that comes with it. I'm a huge dog-lover (watch me, one day I'll adopt them all). I do love humans as well, meeting them, talking to them and getting to see the world through their eyes! in my free time, I play guitar, ukulele, and a piano! I enjoy long walks and deep conversations! Most of the days you'll find me choosing to watch a movie instead of getting enough sleep. But most importantly, I dream of getting my splits and seeing a whale!
When teaching, the most important thing for me is to be student-oriented! So firstly, I need to find out what a person is looking for, so then I can figure out how can we reach these goals together! I truly believe in the importance of creating a safe space, where one can be supported and heard. It's magical to see how lives are transformed through languages, you literally open the new doors for the person! Plus, you get to see their confidence grow, which just makes you more confident and happy! Every single student teachers you something new, so as a teacher I try to constantly learn from the people at the same time as I'm sharing my knowledge!
Depending on the goals of a student and their interests, I create a personal program, full of reading materials and videos which are going to be useful to the student. I prefer students to speak as much as possible during the class because it gets them comfortable with the language! I am a true believer in the importance of the homework! A teacher gives what they can, but it's up to the student to put in the work. When it comes to grammar or reading I give an opportunity for a student to figure the material out themselves first and then offer my help and guidance if there are any problems! At the end of every other lesson, I try to ask for feedback in order to tailor the materials!
Hopefully, I'll see you in class!
