Mr. Naoto is very patient. While I was reading my text, there was kanji I didn't recognize and he helped me out! Even when we were working on the questions together, he was able to explain to me where to find the answers.

I did this last pre-JLPT N4 exam preparation class with Mio Sensei and also new grammar: causative passive form. Mio Sensei has been very patient and passionate. She explain the lessons in a lively way as well as alter her way of teaching accordingly to my progress. It was a pleasure to learn with her throughout this period! :) ありがとうございま す<3

Great to hear about Momo Sensei's experience about work and holiday traditions. A lesson with Momo Sensei feels like a casual but meaningful conversation with a penpal. Highly recommend to those who enjoy a lot of speaking opportunities and getting grammar/vocabulary usage tidied up by an encouraging teacher.

Yuika-sensei is an experience Japanese teacher. She is able to explain in both English and Mandarin, which made is very much easier for me to understand new Japanese grammar and vocabulary. I've also learn heaps of useful day-to-day Japanese phases from her during our conversation in class. Japanese classes with her are always fun too.

I had 4 lessons with Tanaka Sensei and I thoroughly enjoyed every class. He was well-prepared before class and included different scenarios for our speaking practice, which I found highly relevant. Despite being a beginner, I have already learnt some basic keigo phrases from role-playing. Sensei was very encouraging and patient, which made me feel comfortable talking in Japanese, despite making a few grammatical errors along the way. Sensei would also share interesting facts about Japan every lesson which kept me intrigued. I genuinely look forward to attending Sensei's lesson every week and I highly recommend his class to everyone.

Karin 先生 was able to start teaching based on the material at my request (Minna no Nihongo, Chapter XX) after a quick revision to ascertain my level of understanding so far. One interesting thing that she asked me to do was to ask questions back to her - that's something that tripped me up the first time because I wasn't used to doing it, but it is a crucial skill to become conversationally fluent. I would strongly recommend Karin as your first teacher because she has lots of experience teaching foreign students and can use English when you need a little help to understand the material.

Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a tutor who is a native speaker?

One of the best ways to learn is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only .

However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.
