Tomoe-sensei’s class is very relaxed and well-paced. She provides lots of opportunities to practice. She uses a lot of grade A materials, so the lesson is easy to follow. I would happily recommend her lessons to anyone who wants to study Japanese.

A very nice and friendly teacher indeed! Rie Sensei is willing to customise lessons according to student's level and request. I immediately purchased 10 lessons with Rie Sensei after my trial to start my Japanese learning journey. :D

Rie San is kind and helpful. I did a trial lesson, and she was able to cater to my learning needs. We focus on learning and practicing oral conversations, and I was given a comfortable environment to speak and ask questions. I believe that she is the right teacher to help me achieve my goal. And for foreign students, her English is good.

Very challenging because Yoko sensei helped me to practice conversation by Q&A. I had to use correct grammar and expression at the same time. Stuttering as I was, I could finally finish the whole Q&A with much efforts. I will practice more so that I can speak better in the next lesson.

I did a trial lesson with Miss Charlene. She was well prepared for her lesson with powerpoint materials and a curriculum. As an absolute beginner, she started me off with Hiragana and some basic phrases. I got some opportunity to speak by repeating the phrases after her. Generally speaking, the lesson was full of information, and the teacher is lovely and kind, but in terms of pace, it might little bit too fast for some. It is suitable for those who loves structured lessons, and particularly good for those who are aiming at the N5-N1 exams.

Yoko Sensei has been tutoring me for a few months. She has gone through many exercises and extraordinary lengths to making me better at speaking and reading Japanese. If not for her I feel like I would have lost my families roots. She is an inspiration to me to continue doing well in my lessons and to one day have mastered Japanese with her. She is an amazing teacher who I fully recommend to anyone. :)

It was a pleasant experience to take Taka-sensei's trial class. He is really passionate about teaching Japanese; he is also very easy to talk to and would adjust his speed according to the students' lanaguage level. Will definitely recommend his class to beginners.

Amo is an enthusiastic and considerate Japanese teacher. As a non-native speaker, she was able to understand my issues as a second language learner of Japanese. She was especially fantastic and providing constructive criticism and proving a plan to help me progress in all aspects of Japanese. Amazing.

She helps provide interesting materials (news, videos, etc.) for me to go through before class, then we revise and talk about it the class. Therefore, I feel like I can practice many skills in the class. The materials are also very interesting. Recommended for anyone who is also interested in Japanese news and society.

Grace Sensei was very detailed in explaining how she the course is planned and the materials that she will be using. She was very clear in her explanation. She was really friendly and cheerful, thus the lesson was fun and pleasant. I like how she is very structured and organised in her curriculum planning. Time past too quickly in my trial lesson. Thank Sho san so much for the trial class! I felt so relaxed and comfortable to talk with him even though I couldn't speak Japanese fluently. Sho san's Chinese is great too. He typed all the sentences down I was not able to express on a note. This makes learning much easier :) Thanks! Looking forward to having the next class with him.

Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a tutor who is a native speaker?

One of the best ways to learn is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only .

However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.

If you have a good range of vocabulary but lack the opportunity to practice, then we recommend you choose a native tutor.

If you have a short term goal, we recommend you purchase enough lessons that you can take classes consistently within your timeframe. If you need significant improvement to reach your goal, we recommend you an adequate number of lessons, and get into the habit of regular weekly learning! The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
